2011 To current we also added an app to our Android Phone called APRSdroid it uses the phone GPS and Data system to take the data back to the APRS servers. In order to license it you must supply a copy of  you amature radio license.

9/15/2010 -- We have had much better results as of late using APRS to display our location. Map of 2010 travels using APRS Data points. This data is made available at www.aprs.fi the map is very close to actually traveled. We are still using the TM-D700A and APRSPoint software for reporting.

6/1/2006 -- Somewhat disappointed with the performance of APRS over our past trip to the outer banks of North Carolina. We failed to update our map the entire time we were on the islands. Looking into how to update the data in the APRS computer via the internet and WiFi or via the internet and the GPRS/EDGE facilities via Cellular. ta in the APRS computer via the internet and WiFi or via the internet and the GPRS/EDGE facilities via Cellular.

We have installed APRS equipment in our RoadTrek 210 Popular it includes a Kenwood TM-D700A, Garman GPS a Laptop running APRSPoint software. TM-D700A is setup to run 50 Watts on a 3 DB Gain Antenna and when traveling we attempt  to transmit our location every 2 minutes with and the expectation that in most areas we should get several updates in daily. During our recent Blue Ridge Parkway trip this proved to be successful. In the future if this is not working because of the areas of travel we may change to a HF (High Frequency application)
